Our Story

Founded on October 6, 1783, the Society of the Cincinnati in the State of Virginia emerged from a gathering of officers from the Virginia Continental Line. This historic meeting in Fredericksburg led to the formation of the tenth constituent society, dedicated to honoring the legacy of the American Revolution. The Society was reorganized in 1899 by descendants of the original members, ensuring the continuation of its mission.

Impact

Throughout its history, the Virginia Society has demonstrated a commitment to education and community support, notably donating approximately $25,000 to Washington College during its natural dissolution in 1824.
