Our Story
The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul was founded in Paris in 1833 by Frédéric Ozanam to confront poverty. Inspired by St. Vincent de Paul, Ozanam's mission was to help the needy on a one-to-one basis. In 1931, the first San Mateo County St. Vincent de Paul Conference was established, and today, there are 32 parish-based Conferences and 3 Homeless Help Center Conferences, with over 2,000 Vincentian volunteers.
Our Impact
SVdP provides basic survival necessities, including food, clothing, and other essentials for the homeless and precariously housed. Each year, meals are served at Homeless Help Centers, and food, clothing, and rent assistance are provided through the Peninsula Family Resource Center.
