Our Story
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul was founded in 1833 in Paris, France, by a group of college students led by Frédéric Ozanam. With a mission to serve the poor, the Society has expanded to over 777,000 members in 149 countries. In the United States, it began its journey in 1845, and in the Galveston-Houston area, it has been active since 1871, providing vital assistance through a dedicated network of conferences and volunteers.
