Our Story

The Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide was founded in 2005 by two fathers from Monmouth County, New Jersey, who tragically lost their teenage children to suicide. Motivated by the alarming statistics that show suicide as the third leading cause of death among youth, SPTS is committed to preventing such tragedies from affecting other families. Through comprehensive training programs and resources, SPTS aims to increase awareness, save lives, and reduce the stigma surrounding suicide.

Impact

SPTS has trained over 950,000 educators and reached more than 20 million youth through its impactful programs and resources. The organization has played a crucial role in legislative changes in New Jersey, mandating suicide prevention training for educators, and has developed evidence-based programs implemented in schools nationwide.
