Our Story

The Soapbox Independent Publishing Center is a vibrant nonprofit community print shop and library located in West Philadelphia. Founded in 2011, it empowers creative and political voices by providing essential resources, equipment, and instruction in printing, binding, and self-publication arts. The Soapbox values art-making and skill-sharing, striving for social justice by ensuring everyone has access to the means of production.

Impact

Serving over 600 individuals annually, The Soapbox offers workshops and open access to printmaking facilities, along with a library of over 3,500 handmade publications. In 2020, it successfully transitioned to online workshops, returning to in-studio sessions in 2021, allowing new makers to express their creativity.
