Snake River Animal Shelter

Our Story

The Snake River Animal Shelter was founded by Sylvia Medina, an entrepreneur and passionate animal advocate. After witnessing the high euthanasia rates at local shelters, she was inspired to create a no-kill facility. With the support of community leaders and generous donors, $2.5 million was raised to build the shelter, which opened its doors in 2015. The state-of-the-art facility includes separate quarters for various types of animals and a fully equipped veterinary clinic.

Impact

In 2024 alone, SRAS has rescued and cared for nearly 2,000 animals, significantly reducing local euthanasia rates and promoting animal welfare through adoption and education.
