Our Story
The Smith Mountain Lake Center, Inc. was born from a community's resilience and determination to create a safe, engaging space for all. Following the tragic shooting at Bridgewater Plaza in 2015, the community rallied around Vicki Gardner, the sole survivor, to reimagine a vision for a community center. This initiative, initially known as Vicki’s Vision, has transformed into a fully operational nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering community spirit and growth.
