Our Story

The Small World Initiative was inspired by the 'Engage to Excel' Report, which emphasized the need for discovery-based research courses in education. By engaging students in real-world laboratory and field research, SWI aims to enhance scientific literacy and inspire future careers in science. The initiative addresses the critical global health issue of antibiotic resistance by harnessing the collective efforts of student researchers to discover new antibiotics.

Our Impact

Since its inception, SWI has expanded to over 300 schools across 45 US states and 15 countries, actively involving students in hands-on research aimed at combating antibiotic resistance.
