Our Story

SLO4Home was co-founded in December 2021 by Dr. Vance Rodgers and Lauren Brown, Ph.D., to assist vulnerable Afghan families fleeing the Taliban after the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. The organization quickly gained support from various faith groups, public service organizations, and local officials. Expanding its mission, SLO4Home now also supports families from war-torn countries like Syria and Ukraine, helping them resettle and integrate into the Central Coast community.

Impact

As of June 2024, SLO4Home has successfully resettled 3 Afghan, 3 Syrian, and 3 Ukrainian families, positively impacting 26 individual refugees and aiding them in rebuilding their lives.
