Our Story
In December 2010, a tragic event changed the lives of many in the Plymouth-Canton community. Jesse Lindlbauer, affectionately known as Super Jess, suffered a near-fatal brain injury that stemmed from what was initially thought to be a mild sinus infection. His courageous battle against brain trauma and meningitis brought the community together in an unprecedented show of support. In May 2011, the first SJ5K was held, uniting over 1,800 runners and raising funds to assist Jesse and his family. This event not only provided a handicap-accessible van but also funded necessary home modifications to support Jesse’s adapted life. Inspired by this success, the SJ5K has continued annually, helping over 45 local families facing similar crises since its inception.
