Our Story
SisterHouse was founded in 1982 by Sisters Anne Mayer, Margaret Traxler, and Gladys Schmitt as a faith-based recovery house in the Austin Community of Chicago. This organization provides a safe and structured spiritual living community for women seeking recovery from substance abuse. By emphasizing personal growth, accountability, and the development of healthy relationships, SisterHouse empowers residents to secure quality employment and stable housing while planning for their futures.
