About Sirens and Salutes, Inc.

Founded in April 2021 by Bill and Cindy Price, Sirens and Salutes, Inc. is a dedicated nonprofit organization based in Buchanan, Virginia. With a strong commitment to honoring first responders and veterans, the organization emerged from a passion for community service and remembrance. Bill, a Navy veteran and retired firefighter, alongside Cindy, a registered nurse, have instilled the values of service and sacrifice in their family, leading to the creation of impactful initiatives that pay tribute to those who have served.

Our Story

What began as a heartfelt participation in 9/11 Memorial Stair Climbs evolved into the first 9/11 Memorial Walk in Buchanan in 2019. This event set the stage for the 'Walk of Heroes,' where American flags adorned the track, each accompanied by a biography of a 9/11 victim. The flags and tags were adopted out, ensuring that no hero was forgotten. The Fallen Heroes Tree, now prominently displayed at the Buchanan Volunteer Fire Department, serves as a poignant reminder of those lost in the line of duty. Each year, hand-painted wooden star ornaments are created to honor fallen firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, and military members.

In 2022, the Fallen Heroes Tree was showcased at the Hotel Roanoke during the Fashions for Evergreens fundraiser, allowing thousands to reflect on the sacrifices made by these heroes. Sirens and Salutes proudly secured second place in the People's Choice award, further solidifying its presence in the community.

Impact and Initiatives

Sirens and Salutes is committed to a variety of initiatives that honor and memorialize first responders and veterans. Annual 9/11 Memorial Walks, wreath placements on veterans' graves, and Veterans Day breakfasts are just a few of the ways the organization gives back. Collaborating with local businesses, Sirens and Salutes also provides thank-you gift cards to on-duty police and fire personnel, fostering a spirit of gratitude and community support.
