Empowering Voices for Abused and Neglected Children

The Sioux Falls Area Court Appointed Special Advocate Program, known as CASA, was established in 1994 to provide a voice for children in the court system. Founded at the request of Circuit Judge Gene Paul Kean, CASA has trained over 80 dedicated volunteers who advocate for the best interests of children in Minnehaha and Lincoln counties. Since its inception, CASA has positively impacted the lives of over 4,600 children from 2,445 families, ensuring that their voices are heard in court.

Making a Lasting Impact

Each year, nearly 500 children are assigned to the CASA program, often due to circumstances beyond their control, such as abuse, neglect, and family instability. Despite the growing need, CASA currently serves less than half of the children who require advocacy. The organization is committed to achieving 100% coverage, ensuring that every child in need has a dedicated advocate.
