Our Story

In 2010, a chance meeting between Matt from California and Alfred from Nanyuki, Kenya, sparked a transformative journey. Matt volunteered at Daraja Academy and met 13-year-old Alfred, who was struggling on the streets due to his family's hardships. Recognizing Alfred's potential, Matt provided him with school supplies and support, leading Alfred to become the top student in his class and district.

This inspiring experience led to the creation of The Simama Project, which aims to empower children like Alfred by addressing the multifaceted challenges of child poverty. With the help of community leaders and social workers, the project has expanded to include scholarships, meal programs, social services, and a Youth Transition Home, ensuring that children receive comprehensive support.
