Our Story

Founded in 1999 by Sara Betts, Dinna Myers, and Jeff Day, Silicon Valley Shakespeare began as Shady Shakespeare Theatre Company. The organization was established to create more opportunities for artists and audiences to engage with Shakespeare and classic works. Over the years, it has grown from a modest annual budget of $1,100 to over $300,000, offering a full season of theatrical productions across multiple venues.

Our Impact

This year alone, Silicon Valley Shakespeare has provided $100,000 in free admission, contributing nearly $1.95 million in its 26-year history. The organization prioritizes giving back to the community while investing in its own growth and sustainability.
