Our Story

Founded in 2007, Silence Is Violence emerged from a community march in New Orleans, ignited by the tragic murders of Dinerral Shavers and Helen Hill. This grassroots organization advocates for victims of homicide and provides direct support to survivors, drawing on the rich tradition of mutual aid in New Orleans' social aid and pleasure clubs.
