Our Story

Siempre Unidos began in 1999 as the first self-help group for Hondurans living with AIDS. Founded by Pascual Torres, an Episcopal priest, and co-founder Denise Main, MD, the organization emerged in response to the devastating impact of AIDS in Honduras, particularly after Hurricane Mitch. Partnering with the Honduran Ministry of Health in 2003, Siempre Unidos became the only authorized nongovernmental program to treat HIV in the country, operating clinics in San Pedro Sula and Siguatepeque, and a part-time clinic on Roatán.

Our Impact

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Siempre Unidos provides essential services to over 1,200 individuals annually, including support groups, nutritional assistance, and educational stipends for children. The organization conducts over 40 health fairs and workshops each year, ensuring that communities lacking health education receive vital information. With 1,000 individuals receiving HIV testing and counseling, and over 500 HIV-positive individuals receiving ongoing treatment, Siempre Unidos is making a significant difference in the fight against AIDS.
