Our Story

Founded in 1955 by Rev. R.G. Jones and local businessmen, the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission has been a beacon of hope for the homeless, hungry, and hurting in Shreveport. Originally established to provide overnight shelter and gospel services, the mission has evolved significantly over the decades. In 1961, it relocated to a larger facility to accommodate the growing needs of the community. Today, it offers a comprehensive Life Recovery Program, vocational training, and a thrift store, continually adapting to serve those in need.

Impact

The Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission is dedicated to changing lives one at a time. Through its full-scale Life Recovery Program, the mission addresses the root causes of homelessness and poverty, providing essential services such as vocational training, case management, and healthcare.
