Our Story
In 1986, a vision was born at Camp Howard when Salmonberry attended Outdoor School, igniting a passion for outdoor education and youth empowerment. Over the years, Salmonberry, alongside Butterfly, has cultivated a nurturing environment for young leaders through various camp programs, including Girl Scouts and Outdoor School. This journey led to the creation of Camp Two Roads, a unique overnight camp that encourages young women to take the road less traveled.
Since its inception, Camp Two Roads has welcomed campers to experience the joys of nature, community, and personal growth. The camp's innovative approach focuses on developing leadership skills among young teen leaders, fostering a supportive camp family filled with quirky traditions. After three successful summers of day camp, the need for a more extensive program became evident, leading to the establishment of Shooting Star Adventures, Inc. in September 2020.
Throughout the pandemic, the commitment to serving the community remained unwavering. Camp Two Roads adapted to challenges, providing essential outdoor experiences that connected families to nature. The camp has since expanded its offerings, including co-ed day camps and specialized programs like Nature Art and Engineering, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive.
In 2024, Shooting Star Adventures celebrated its fifth anniversary, marked by record registrations and the introduction of new programs. With the support of generous grants, the camp has been able to enhance its offerings, including a new fishing program and scholarships for families in need. The camp continues to grow, with exciting events planned for the future, all aimed at empowering young women and building a strong community.
