Our Story
Founded in 1998 by concerned parents, the Sherwood Education Foundation emerged in response to Measure 5, which drastically reduced property taxes and school budgets across Oregon. This initiative hit fast-growing districts like Sherwood particularly hard, prompting the community to take action. The Foundation's mission is to enrich the quality of education in the Sherwood School District by reinstating essential funding that was lost at the state level. Over the years, the Foundation has successfully raised more than $1,300,000 through various community-driven events, including the annual Calling for Kids campaign and Sip & Spell. These funds are distributed through grants to individual teachers and programs that align with the district’s 2020 Vision for educational excellence.
