Shepherd Mountain Horse Rescue began in 2015 to address the urgent need for horse rescue services in Northwest Arkansas. Awarded 501c3 status in early 2016, SMHR has grown each year, focusing on rescuing, rehabilitating, retraining, and rehoming horses in distress.
Each horse rescued by SMHR receives personalized care tailored to their unique needs. From nutritional programs to veterinary care, every step is taken to ensure their health and well-being. The rehabilitation process includes individualized training, preparing each horse for a loving forever home that matches their potential.
