Supporting Undocumented Latino Students
Providing Mentorship and Academic Resources
Fostering Community Engagement and Social Justice

Our Story

The Shenandoah Valley Scholars Latino Initiative (SV-SLI) was founded in 2011-12 to support undocumented Latino high school students in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. This initiative emerged from a collaboration of educators, community organizers, and business leaders who recognized the challenges faced by Hispanic students in accessing higher education. By enriching academic experiences and providing mentorship, SV-SLI helps students excel academically and realize their college dreams.

Our Impact

SV-SLI has successfully supported numerous Latino students in their academic pursuits, facilitating access to higher education through mentorship and financial assistance. Strong partnerships with local colleges have resulted in scholarships and dual enrollment opportunities, significantly increasing students' chances of college success.
