About Shared-Use Mobility Center

The Shared-Use Mobility Center (SUMC) was founded in 2014 by a dedicated group of mobility pioneers, including Sharon Feigon, Susan Shaheen, David Bragdon, and Scott Bernstein. With a vision to transform transportation, SUMC serves as a clearinghouse for information and a testing ground for innovative strategies in shared mobility. From its humble beginnings with a $600,000 investment, SUMC has grown to a budget of $3.29 million, continuing the legacy of IGO CarSharing, which pioneered carsharing in the Chicago region.

Impact of SUMC

SUMC is committed to replacing car-centric transportation with people-focused shared mobility solutions. By connecting public and private sectors, piloting programs, and providing policy expertise, SUMC aims to promote equity, combat climate change, and strengthen communities.
