The Shannon Leadership Institute, founded in 1992, has evolved from the Institute for Renewing Community Leadership to a dedicated nonprofit organization. Initially established under the Minnesota Council of Foundations, it was renamed in 2002 to honor James P. Shannon and became part of the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation. In 2021, it gained independence as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, focusing on nurturing community leaders committed to ethical service.
Since its inception, the Shannon Leadership Institute has empowered over 1300 participants across Minnesota and the United States, fostering a culture of purposeful leadership.
