Our Story
Founded in 1963 by seventeen families seeking better care for their children with special needs, Shangri-La began as a nurturing environment on a 30-acre property near Salem, Oregon. Over the decades, the organization has transformed into a comprehensive human services provider, adapting to the evolving needs of individuals with disabilities and their families. Today, Shangri-La serves over 2,000 individuals annually across seven Oregon counties, employing nearly 500 dedicated staff members.
