Shalom Center of Interfaith Network of Kenosha County Inc
EIN: 39-1480124 · Kenosha, WI
Our Story
Founded in 1982 as the Interfaith Human Concerns Network, Shalom Center has been a beacon of hope for the Kenosha community. Initially addressing local concerns with a simple hot meal, the organization has evolved significantly over the years. In 1985, Shalom Center purchased the Deming School, transforming it into a dedicated space for its mission. By 1991, the Interfaith Network Shelter Program was launched, allowing local churches to provide shelter for those experiencing homelessness. In 2009, the food pantry opened, and in 2017, Shalom Center moved to a new location, enhancing its capacity to serve. Today, all programs operate under one roof, ensuring comprehensive support for those in need.
Impact
As the only homeless shelter in Kenosha County, Shalom Center plays a crucial role in the community. It operates the largest food pantry and has the longest-running nightly meal program, providing essential services to those facing food insecurity and homelessness.
