Our Story

Shades of Pink Foundation was established in 2005 following a heartfelt conversation among a breast cancer surgeon, a friend, and a patient. This dialogue revealed the often-overlooked financial strain that breast cancer imposes on patients and their families. The fear of losing a home due to treatment-related costs and daily living expenses led to the creation of SOPF. The annual ‘Walk at the Zoo’ event has become a cornerstone for raising awareness and gathering support, drawing over 1,000 participants each year for a memorable experience.

Our Impact

Since its inception, SOPF has provided over $2.9 million in financial assistance to more than 1,000 individuals battling breast cancer in Southeast Michigan. By directly covering essential living expenses, SOPF alleviates the financial burden, allowing patients to focus on their treatment and recovery.
