Our Story

In the late 1990s, the Serbian American Medical Association (SAMA) was founded in response to the dire need for medical resources in the Balkans following years of conflict. Initially, small transfers of medical supplies were organized from the U.S. with the help of family and friends. However, the vision quickly expanded as members from all parts of former Yugoslavia, now residing across North America, united to create a more significant impact. Registered in Maryland in 2009 and granted 501(c)(3) status in 2010, SAMA is dedicated to improving healthcare conditions in Serbia and the surrounding regions.
