Our Story

The Seraj Library Project, founded in 2005 by Estephan and Laurie Salameh, is dedicated to improving the lives of Palestinians through education. Inspired by a love for books, the project began by establishing libraries in isolated villages and refugee camps in Palestine. The name 'Seraj' means 'light' in Arabic, symbolizing the mission to illuminate the path to education and civic engagement in a region facing significant challenges.

Impact

Seraj Libraries have become vital community centers, providing safe spaces for learning, creativity, and cultural preservation. With 13 libraries established, thousands of children and families benefit from programs that promote literacy and civic education, fostering a sense of belonging and connection.
