Founded in 1935 by Gladys Dunne, the Seminary Tea Committee began as a small gathering of friends to support the education of seminarians in the Archdiocese of Portland, Oregon. The inaugural Tea raised $350 aboard the General Lee State steamship, marking the start of a long-standing tradition. Over the years, the event has evolved from intimate gatherings to larger venues, raising over $1,000,000 by 2016 for seminarian education.
