Our Story
Since the early 1980s, Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley, originally known as The Food Assistance Warehouse, has been dedicated to alleviating hunger by rescuing surplus food from companies and distributing it to local charities. Established as a 501(c)(3) organization in 1982, it became a certified member of Feeding America in 1994, enabling access to national food donors like Target, Aldi, Meijer, and Walmart. Collaborating with local companies and initiatives such as Harvest for Hunger and Feed our Valley, Second Harvest continues its mission to fight hunger in the Mahoning Valley.
Impact
Second Harvest Food Bank helps stop food waste and provides meals for thousands each year, working to build a hunger-free community in Columbiana, Mahoning, and Trumbull Counties.
