Our Story

The SCWTCA Endowment, Inc. was established in 2001 by the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of America, Inc. as a dedicated nonprofit organization focused on improving health issues affecting Wheaten Terriers. Founded in response to increasing health concerns, the Endowment has raised over $200,000 for research funding, particularly targeting genetic conditions such as kidney disease and Addison’s Disease.

Impact on Canine Health

Significantly contributing to canine health research, the SCWTCA Endowment has funded studies that have led to the development of genetic tests used by thousands of breeders worldwide. This has resulted in a reduction of dogs at higher risk for genetic diseases, enhancing the overall health of the breed.
