Fostering Community Engagement Through The Arts

Our Story

Founded in 2011 by Michael Bradshaw Flynn, the Scranton Shakespeare Festival began with a free performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream in Nay Aug Park, attracting nearly 1,000 attendees. Over the years, the festival has expanded its programming, becoming a vital platform for artists to develop original works. The establishment of The Shakes Space in The Marketplace at Steamtown has further solidified its commitment to the arts.

Impact

The festival has successfully provided free theatre to the community, acting as an incubator for new works and supporting artists who have gone on to achieve success in the industry.
