Our Story

Established in 1975 by the Scottish Rite Freemasons of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library uniquely serves as the historical society of American Freemasonry. It collects, preserves, interprets, and celebrates the rich history of fraternalism, with a special focus on the Scottish Rite.

The Van Gorden-Williams Library & Archives houses one of the world’s most comprehensive collections on American Freemasonry, featuring over 60,000 books and 2,000 cubic feet of archival materials. This invaluable resource supports education and research on fraternalism and American history.
