Sharing Industry Best Practices

Our Story

The South Central Joint Mine Health and Safety Conference was established in 1983 as a pioneering partnership between the US Department of Labor, Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), state educational institutions, and the mining industry. This initiative marked the first regional industry/MSHA partnership mine health and safety conference in the United States. In 2014, the SCJMHSC Association emerged as an independent nonprofit to continue this vital annual Conference after the University of Texas at Austin could no longer provide support due to federal budget cuts.

Our Impact

The SCJMHSC Association is dedicated to enhancing mine safety and health through education, networking, and the sharing of critical information among mine owners, managers, contractors, educators, and government regulators.
