Founded in 1996 amidst a vibrant California youth movement, the School of Unity and Liberation (SOUL) emerged as a beacon for young people of color advocating for educational equity and social justice. Inspired by the Highlander Folk School, SOUL has dedicated itself to developing the skills of local youth organizers. Over two decades, SOUL has trained over 10,000 individuals, creating a ripple effect of empowerment and activism across communities.
