Our Story
Founded in 2001, the School Garden Project of Lane County is dedicated to establishing gardens and providing essential resources, professional consultation, and educational programs in local schools. The initiative aims to enhance children’s science knowledge, promote healthy eating choices, and foster environmental stewardship while building confidence through collaboration.
Impact
Each year, the School Garden Project delivers engaging 'Science in the Garden' lessons to over 1,200 children across 18 elementary and middle schools in Lane County. This programming empowers children facing food insecurity by teaching them how to grow their own food, with many experiencing fresh fruits and vegetables for the first time.
