Our Story

Founded in 1980, the School for Field Studies (SFS) emerged from a vision to combat environmental illiteracy among young people. Starting with just 75 students, SFS has grown into a premier environmental study abroad program, operating in 20 countries and 15 states. Each program is designed to immerse students in local ecosystems, fostering a deep understanding of environmental issues.
