Our Story

The Spina Bifida Association of Western Pennsylvania was founded in 1969 by dedicated parents of infant survivors of spina bifida and hydrocephalus. This organization was created to provide support and advocate for quality healthcare for those affected. Over the years, SBAWP has focused on addressing the evolving needs of individuals living with spina bifida and related disabilities.

Impact

SBAWP has positively impacted nearly 1,000 children, teens, and adults across 28 counties in Western Pennsylvania, as well as parts of New York, Ohio, and West Virginia. The organization provides essential resources and practical skills to help individuals lead fulfilling lives.
