Saw Mill River Audubon Society

Our Story

Founded in 1953 by William G. Fennell, the Saw Mill River Audubon Society emerged from a vision to create a local chapter of Audubon that would serve the Chappaqua and Pleasantville communities. With the support of the National Audubon Society and the Bedford chapter, this new organization was established to focus on the unique wildlife and habitats of northern Westchester County.

Our Impact

Today, Saw Mill River Audubon protects over 300 acres of vital wildlife habitat across eight sanctuaries. The organization leads free field trips, workshops, and educational programs that engage the community in exploring birds and their habitats.
