Our Story

Save the Michaels of the World, Inc. was founded in June 2011 after the tragic loss of 20-year-old Michael David Israel. His parents, Avi and Julie Israel, recognized the urgent need to raise awareness about the dangers of opioid medications and the devastating effects of addiction. Starting as a small kitchen roundtable action group, the organization quickly gained attention through media coverage, highlighting the critical issue of overprescribing pain medications like hydrocodone. Today, Save the Michaels continues to advocate for families affected by addiction, providing essential resources and support.

Impact

Save the Michaels raises awareness about prescription drug addiction and its severe consequences, including illness, depression, and overdose deaths. The organization offers the Save the Michaels House of Hope and Community Resources, providing a nurturing environment for families navigating the challenges of addiction recovery. Support is extended to parents, grandparents, and spouses, ensuring they are not alone in their journey.
