Associação Mico-Leão-Dourado (AMLD) is dedicated to the conservation of golden lion tamarins in Brazil. Established in 1992, this nonprofit organization works tirelessly to restore their native forest habitat and ensure the survival of these remarkable primates.
Our Impact
AMLD has successfully restored 449 hectares of degraded land to native Atlantic Forest and vaccinated 448 wild golden lion tamarins against yellow fever. A recent census shows a promising recovery, with an estimated 4,800 golden lion tamarins thriving in the area.
