Our Story

Saruni International, meaning 'the one who rescues' in Maasai, was founded in 2008 by Mark and Tina Hagen. The organization is dedicated to rescuing young girls from harmful practices such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and early marriage in Kenya. The Olooloitikoshi Girls Rescue Center has successfully rescued over 160 girls, providing them with education, healthcare, and a safe environment.

Impact

With a focus on the Amboselli Basin, Saruni International has positively impacted over 750 girls and their communities. The organization boasts a remarkable 100% graduation rate from secondary school among its graduates, alongside providing water access to over 2,200 people.
