Sarasota Youth Sailing

Our Story

Sarasota Youth Sailing was founded by Kathy Waggener in the late 1970s, starting with just seven students. Since its incorporation as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in 1980, it has grown to offer diverse programs, including the first race team established in 1994 and the Keelboat Program introduced in 2012.

This organization provides sailing instruction and coaching for youth, fostering essential skills such as character, teamwork, self-reliance, and respect for the marine environment.
