Our Story

Sara’s Sanctuary was established to offer a lifetime home to abandoned, abused, and disabled captive-born wild animals. This sanctuary provides a quiet, predictable, and loving environment, something many of these animals have never experienced. Unlike petting zoos or roadside attractions, Sara’s Sanctuary is a dedicated rescue facility, designed to meet the needs of the animals rather than for public viewing. The journey to build trust with these animals can take months or even years, requiring patience and dedication from caregivers.

Impact

Since receiving 501(c)(3) status in December 2000, Sara’s Sanctuary has been a refuge for hundreds of animals with no other options. The sanctuary provides lifetime care, love, and a secure environment for animals that have reached the end of their options with previous owners.
