Founded in 2012, Sanzuma began its journey by delivering solar ovens to remote villages in Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Mexico. This initiative, made possible through generous donations, allowed villagers to cook without cutting down trees for wood, purify their water, and earn an income from the food produced. As the solar oven program expanded, Sanzuma recognized the urgent need for a sustainable healthy food system and nutrition education, leading to the development of the School Farm-to-Cafeteria program in Marin County.

Sanzuma has fostered deep partnerships with local organizations to implement an equitable food system at Marin County Schools. Thousands of nutrition classes have been taught, and school gardens have been transformed into productive farms.
