Founded in December 1983 by Judy and Joe Santiago Sr., the Santa Visits Alviso Foundation emerged from the aftermath of the devastating Alviso flood. What began with a simple bag of candy canes and a Polaroid picture with Santa has transformed into the largest annual celebration of giving in Alviso. This all-volunteer organization hosts a yearly holiday event that brings together 800-900 community members, providing gifts, family photos with Santa, and a BBQ feast.

Impact on the Community

Since 2006, the foundation has awarded over $1,255,580 in scholarships, enabling 27 students in 2023 alone to pursue higher education, many as first-generation college attendees. Additionally, the foundation supports vital community programs, including reading initiatives and free swimming lessons.
