Santa Fe Women’s Ensemble

Our Story

Founded in 1981 by Sakina von Briesen, the Santa Fe Women’s Ensemble began with a simple performance of Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols. Over the years, this group of talented women has evolved into a distinguished nonprofit organization, known for its adventurous programming and commitment to the arts.

Impact

The Ensemble has commissioned 42 premieres in 43 seasons, showcasing under-performed and new choral music. With a focus on community outreach, the group provides free concerts and mentorship to local youth, nurturing the next generation of singers and composers.
