Our Story

The Santa Cruz Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was founded in 1938 by Dr. Charles Edward Graves, who generously donated land to create a shelter. Since its incorporation in 1955, the organization has evolved, focusing on rescue and adoption after the County established its own agency in 2002.

Impact

Providing safe harbor for animals in need, the Santa Cruz SPCA promotes an active humane community through adoption, advocacy, and education.
