Our Story

The Santa Barbara Public Library Foundation was established in 2012 as an independent funding organization dedicated to enhancing the two city libraries, Central and Eastside. With the remarkable support of a dedicated Capital Campaign Committee, the Foundation successfully raised over $4.6 million for its inaugural project, the new Children’s Library at the Central Library, along with an endowment to ensure its sustainability.

Impact

Through its efforts, the Foundation funds essential renovation projects at the Central Library, including the Plaza Project, Teen Center, and a refurbished Second Floor Patio. Additionally, the Children’s Library Endowment enables the library to conduct over 200 outreach programs each month, reaching more than 30,000 children annually.
